6:30 of ads removed

Three ad breaks totaling 6 minutes 30 seconds come out, and the timeline marks each join plus the six spots the quiz asks about. Drawn to scale.

What happens to each episode

Everything below runs on its own. You follow a show, and new episodes show up ready to play.

  1. 1

    The ads come out

When a show posts an episode, RecallPod transcribes it, finds sponsor reads, inserted ads and promos for other shows, and cuts them at natural pauses. If it isn't sure something is an ad, it leaves it in.

  2. 2

    You listen

It plays with your screen off and keeps your place. Marks on the timeline show each cut and where the quiz answers are.

  3. 3

    A short quiz

Five to eight questions on facts, main ideas and reasoning. Each answer comes with a one-line explanation and a button that replays the 30 seconds where it came up.

  4. 4

    Misses come back

A question you miss returns in Review two days later. Get it right and it's cleared. Miss it again and it waits two more days.

Why a quiz helps you remember

Pulling an idea back out of memory strengthens it more than hearing it again. RecallPod is built on two of the best-supported findings in learning research.

How much of a passage college students remembered one week later, after either practicing recall or spending the same time rereading it. Source: Roediger and Karpicke, Psychological Science, 2006.

2 of 10

A 2013 review of ten popular study techniques gave its highest rating to only two: practice testing, and spacing practice out over time. The quiz after each episode is the first. The two-day review is the second.
